Elder Alex James Alexander

Elder Alex James Alexander is the visionary, insightful, and dynamic pastor of Holy Faith Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Elder Alexander, a lifelong member of the church since his birth on August 13, 1982, has distinguished himself as a faithful servant of the Lord for this day and time.

Although Elder Alexander experienced a call to ministry shortly after receiving the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at the age of 12, he was licensed as a Minister on January 16, 2003, at the memorial service for his grandfather and pastor, Dr. James D. Tallie, by Bishop David W. Spann, Sr. (deceased). One year later, during the Jurisdictional Holy Convocation, he was ordained an Elder in the Church Of God In Christ by Bishop David W. Spann, Sr. (deceased). The driving force behind Elder Alexander’s ministry is his genuine love for God, and the church. His unique devotion, and faithfulness was honored when on October 6, 2005, Bishop David W. Spann Sr. installed Elder Alexander, as the Pastor of Holy Faith Church, succeeding his grandfather, and founding pastor of Holy Faith Church, the late Dr. James D. Tallie.

Elder Alexander has been blessed with a vision sent from the Lord of Holy Faith church as a beacon in the community during the last and evil days. He has sought to prepare himself for the awesome task of ministry and administration by being trained at the C. H. Mason Bible Institute, and receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Baltimore. Currently, he is earning a Master of Public Administration degree, with a concentration in non-profit management.

God has used Elder Alexander in the secular world, as a man of faith, inspiration, and integrity. In his community, he has been honored as a Board of Trustees Member of Anne Arundel Community College, Student Association President, in which he represented the educational and social needs of 21,000 students, a member of the Glen Burnie Small area planning committee, a speaker at the Martin Luther King Memorial breakfast, a winner of numerous awards for public speaking from the Future Business Leaders of America-Maryland chapter, a “Zeitgeist” award for excellence in student leadership, and a drum major for the North County Knights Marching band.

Most recently, Elder Alexander was chosen as one (1) of thirty (30) out of one hundred and sixty five (165) applicants to serve on the Filene Research Institute’s 30 under 30 fellowship. As a fellow, for the year of 2008, Elder Alexander will work with twenty-nine (29) other Credit Union professionals who are under the age of thirty (30), to draft, test, and produce, programs and services for credit unions to market to retain and attract members(customers) under the age of thirty.

Due to Elder Alexander’s God given skills and abilities, he was appointed on January 5, 2008, by Bishop Joel Harley Lyles, Jr. as the jurisdictional secretary for the Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction. This highly respected position of trust, works under the direction of the Jurisdictional Bishop to oversee and co-ordinate many of the organizational needs of the largest diocese of the Church Of God In Christ, in the State of Maryland.

A man of faith, diligence, and genuine love for the work of the Lord, Elder Alexander realizes he has been blessed to have God as the Shepherd of his soul. He lives up to his God given name “Alex” which means helper of mankind. Elder Alexander is highly honored to be chosen of the Lord to serve as Pastor of Holy Faith Church, and shares his God given vision for the ministry with his parents, Deacon Aldolphus and Prophetess Lydia Tallie-Wright.
